What’s the difference between a sealant and adhesive?
Adhesives are an umbrella term usually used when you want to fix two or more objects or surfaces together permanently. Adhesives bond materials to each other but are not always elastic and don’t flex if the joint moves. Once dry they give a more rigid bond. There are many types of adhesives that are made for specific purposes, depending on the industry and the materials that need to be bonded together.
Although sealants can also connect materials, sealing the joint in between substrates, but unlike adhesives will absorb the movements within the joint after. However sealants tend to make a weaker connection between two substrates.
Silicone sealant is more liquid and acts like a gel and unlike other adhesive silicone keeps its stability and elasticity. Silicone sealants or caulk are often used in home improvements and construction due to its durability and flexibility. It can be used on interiors and exteriors. All our sealants require a sealant gun to administer them.
