Which drill bits are for masonry? To drill through tougher materials like masonry you will need a harder wearing drill bit. Masonry drill bits are the preferred choice to drill into tougher materials like brick, concrete and stone. Usually made from tungsten carbide they are robust and durable but perform better when used at a slower speed to prevent the bit from overheating. Some come with the SDS+ fitting which hammers the bit into the surface as the drill is rotating.
Glass Drill Bit: Typically have a spear-shaped carbide or diamond coated tip. They operate at low speeds to minimise heat and reduce the risk of glass cracking.
Porcelain & Ceramics: Designed to limit damage to the ceramic or porcelain tiles for both cordless and corded three-jaw chuck drills. Do not use the hammer drill setting as this will damage the tiles.
Rebar Drilling: Concrete drilling can be tough and full of obstacles that damage the drill bit. Alpen Force X is ideal for reinforced concrete drilling.
