What are the different types of replacement blades and what are they used for?

  • Snap-off blades – these tend to be the most common and popular option for utility knives. These blades are uniquely designed as one long, sturdy blade. They blades have multiple seams that allow you to snap-off one piece at a time giving a new, sharp edge. This design means the blades last longer than the standard two-sided blades
  • Hook blades - these blades have hooks on the ends are generally used for cutting very thick and heavy-duty materials. Can be used for various applications including roofing, carpet and linoleum fitting etc.
  • Concave blades – these blades have an inward shaped blade and are suitable for most utility knives. Ideal for creating long cuts such as slicing through linoleum, flooring and stripping electric cables. Also commonly used for precision, accurately cutting many different materials including marquetry, fabrics and leather
  • Scraper blades – these blades have many varied uses including removal of paint, excess varnish, off windows, soap scum from tiles and shower screen, removing labels and stickers etc.
