A handsaw is a long saw with a handle at one end. Ideal for roughly and quickly cutting a material to the correct size, they are usually not suitable for more delicate work due to the large blade. More teeth per inch means a neater finish, however handsaws have a low TPI (between 7 and 10 teeth per inch) so are better used for quickly and roughly cutting a material.
